Advanced Arrhythmias/12- Lead EKG Course

Target audience: Nurses or Monitor Technicians working in areas with telemetry monitors.  The following rhythm groups are included: Sinus, Junctional, Ventricular, Atrial, Blocks, and Ectopic beats. Nurses or Techs involved in reading or obtaining 12-Lead EKG’s.

This is a two-day class. Only first day will be listed in links below.

Objectives:     

  • Label the cardiac conduction system
  • Discuss the relationship between the anatomy of the heart and the EKG rhythm
  • Recognize lethal arrhythmias
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of cardiac rhythm strip analysis
  • Demonstrate placement of electrodes for a 12-lead and right-sided EKG
  • Identify axis deviation of a 12-lead EKG
  • Identify ST-segment elevation or ST-depression on and EKG
  • Discuss which area of the heart each lead best visualizes
