Millions affected by hard-to-heal wounds

Southeast Missouri Hospital’s Wound Care Program, established in 1986, offers comprehensive therapy for treating chronic and difficult-to-heal wounds.  These wounds, affecting several million Americans, are often caused by complications of diabetes, pressure ulcers, circulatory problems - even spider bites.

At Southeast Missouri Hospital’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center, patients with chronic wounds receive a thorough evaluation for any underlying conditions that might delay the natural healing process

Patients receive an individualized treatment plan and one-on-one education about how to care for their wounds at home.

They also learn how proper nutrition and exercise may aid in the healing and prevention of future ulcers and wounds.
