wearing a helmet correctly.

Is this the way you wear your helmet?

"No!," scream a group of children from a local day care during a presentation in the Jackson City Park.

Heidi enjoys spreading the safety message directly to children through presentations to schools and day cares.

Child Safety Tips

  • Always make sure a child uses a seat belt or is secured in a correctly installed child car seat when they ride in an automobile.
  • Always supervise children in and near water.
  • Store matches and lighters out of the reach of young children
  • Keep small objects out of the reach of children
  • Always wear a helmet when riding a bicycle. Wearing a helmet is the single-most important thing children can do to protect their brains and their lives when riding a bike. (Children copy adults. If you ride, wear a helmet!)
  • Children should learn street safety as soon as they are ready to walk outdoors. Kids learn traffic safety by watching and doing. Go for walks with your children. Be a role model. Supervise your children until they show you they are safe pedestrians.
  • Install smoke alarms in every bedroom and on every level of your home. Test them monthly following manufacturer's instructions. Change batteries at least once a year -- even if they are still working. Replace alarms every 10 years
  • Keep common household poisons and medicines out of sight and reach of children.
