With a population of just over
36,600, Cape Girardeau is the largest city between
St. Louis and Memphis. Located along Interstate
55 and at the banks of the Mississippi River,
the city's economy is diverse.
It is the home to Southeast
Missouri State University and a large medical
and retail hub.
The city dates back to 1793 when Louis Lorimier
founded the Cape Girardeau through a Spanish Land
Grant.
Southeast Missouri Hospital is one of the largest
employers in Cape Girardeau, with a job force
